Emui × YUNOMI / YOIN (余韻) Matcha Pouring Bowl (Handmade Ceramic / 桐箱入りユノミオリジナル)
A handmade matcha pouring bowl from Emui (笑無為) by ceramic artist Emi Nakagawa.
Named YOIN (余韻) — meaning “lingering resonance” or “afterglow” — this piece reflects the quiet feeling that remains after a moment of stillness. Much like the lingering warmth of tea, YOIN embodies subtle beauty, calm presence, and the gentle rhythm of intentional daily rituals.
Rooted in the tradition of Kiyomizu-yaki — a historic ceramic style from Kyoto — she works with clay sourced from Shigaraki, Shiga, known for its warm, natural texture and depth.
The bronze-glazed variation is fired to create a deep, charred surface with subtle metallic undertones. Rich in texture and atmosphere, the finish evokes the quiet intensity of glowing embers fading into darkness.
A contrasting light variation is also available, offering a softer and more serene expression of the same form. Rather than a pure white, the glaze reveals delicate hints of blue and pink depending on the light — creating a subtle iridescence and quiet depth within its calm appearance.
Unlike a standard matcha bowl, this piece features a carefully formed spout, allowing for smooth, precise pouring. Ideal for preparing matcha for lattes or sharing, it brings both functionality and elegance to the tea-making process.
Balanced and comfortable in the hand, the form offers stability while maintaining a refined, understated presence.
Perfect for matcha, whether enjoyed traditionally or as a latte, this versatile bowl elevates everyday rituals into something more intentional.
The base is stamped with the YUNOMI mark.
Subtle yet distinctive, this discreet signature adds a quiet sense of exclusivity to each piece.
Presented in a paulownia wooden box, it also makes a thoughtful and refined gift.
